    Experience CALS

    CALS Information Sessions and Tours

We hold information sessions on-campus and virtually all year long, so you can learn all about CALS when it works best for you. These sessions are tailored for both prospective and transfer students. You’ll learn about our college, majors, resources, and have the chance to ask current CALS students questions.

Our on-campus sessions feature a 1-hour walking tour after a 30-minute information session. You’ll see labs, greenhouses, and animal facilities where students have classes, in addition to checking out study spaces, lecture halls, classrooms, and the lakeshore residential community.

    Future Badger Days

As an admitted student, you can sign up for a Future Badger Day! Join us for a half-day session — tailored for future CALS Badgers — with a welcome session, resource fair, and your choice of info session, Q&A student panel, or CALS campus tour. Come see how you belong here at Madison.

Go to Visit Bucky and log in with your NetID to find additional information, including dates and times, and to sign up to attend!

    Madison: The perfect college town

Sitting on an isthmus, a piece of land between two lakes, Madison is the perfect combination of city and campus life.

Check out the miles of bike paths, shop and eat on State Street and Capitol Square, swim and paddle in the lakes, or spend Saturday morning at the Farmer’s Market! Madison has so much to offer.

Campus is the heart of Madison

UW’s campus has everything you need to make the most out of your time as a student. Stay active at the Bakke and the Nick, or take a dip in the lakes when it’s nice out. Both Memorial Union or Union South are the perfect place to study, eat, or attend one of the hundreds of campus events. And don’t forget to jump around at a Wisconsin Badgers game! UW–Madison has something for everyone.

Are you a teacher or educator?

We are actively exploring and developing educational opportunities designed to connect youth with real-world applications of agriculture, food systems, environmental sciences, health, and life sciences. Our goal is to create accessible, engaging experiences that align with classroom learning while exposing students to university pathways, cutting-edge research, and career opportunities.

Please reach out to Student Outreach Coordinator, Kara Henderlight, at kara.henderlight@wisc.edu for questions or to learn more.

You can find all UW–Madison campus visits, including our CALS information sessions and CALS campus tours, on the Visit Bucky site. Admitted students can log-in using their NetID to view specific admitted student events, such as Future Badger Days. We also welcome walk-ins to our events!

CALS on-campus and virtual information sessions are designed to give you an overview of who we are and what makes us unique at UW. The on-campus sessions are 1 hour and 30 minutes long and feature a 30-minute information session and a 1-hour tour of the CALS campus. The virtual sessions are 45 minutes long and include a question and answer portion. Both of these sessions are great for anyone who wants to learn more about CALS!

Future Badger Days are designed for admitted students to explore what your college experience can look like as a CALS student. There are two parts — a UW session in the morning and a college-specific session in the afternoon. In the CALS afternoon session, you will attend a welcome session, resource fair, and your choice of info session, Q&A student panel, or CALS campus tour.

Yes! Our information sessions, both campus and virtual, are for anyone interested in learning more about CALS. Whether you are already admitted, or are still exploring where to apply to college, you’ll learn about the community, resources, and academics here at CALS.

Yes, even if the UW Future Badger Day registration is full, you can still register for the CALS session. To register, log in to Visit Bucky with your NetID. After logging in, you can scroll down to see the events offered by each school and college. If you click on CALS, you’ll be able to register for the CALS Future Badger Day session.

Note: The CALS Future Badger Day session is the afternoon portion of the larger UW Future Badger Day. If you are already registered for the UW event, you do not need to register for the CALS event individually.

CALS hosts transfer-focused sessions in partnership with campus-wide transfer visit days, hosted by the Office of Admissions and Recruitment.

Prospective transfer students are also encouraged to visit any of our sessions! The information covered is relevant to prospective transfer students as well as prospective first-year students. If you would like to meet with a CALS pre-transfer advisor, please contact us with your name, current institution, academic interests, and year in school and we will work to connect you with an academic advisor.

Please contact ambassadors@cals.wisc.edu with as much information as possible about the date and time of your already scheduled visit, and we will do our best to accommodate weekday visits or walk-in visits. Unfortunately, CALS is not able to accommodate weekend visits at this time, as most academic buildings are closed to the public on weekends. UW–Madison also offers a virtual campus tour with some stops on the CALS side of campus, including Agricultural Hall, Microbial Sciences Building, DC Smith Greenhouse, and Babcock Hall.

We have our tours rain or shine, so make sure to dress for the weather!

The CALS campus tour follows accessible routes throughout the entire tour. If you have any questions or concerns related to the accessibility of the tour, please contact ambassadors@cals.wisc.edu for more information.
