
Global Health Certificate
The global health certificate is open to all UW–Madison students who are passionate about improving the health of populations across the world. This certificate provides interdisciplinary perspectives on well-being, health inequities, and the root causes of global health challenges.
In this 15-credit certificate program you will:
- Build knowledge about global health challenges and diseases facing today’s world
- Gain an understanding of health issues at local, national, and international levels and the connections between them
- Identify solutions to challenges such as threats to human health and the root causes of disease
- Develop a multifaceted perspective on human health and well-being
- Build valuable cross-cultural communication skills
- Explore public and global health careers through coursework and a field experience, a unique opportunity to explore issues outside the classroom
- Focus your studies on a thematic area you’d like to specialize in:
- Public and community health
- Social determinants and well-being
- Globalization and development
- Agriculture, food systems, and nutrition
- Environmental health and sustainability
- Disease biology
