Development Economics
Development Economics Certificate
The development economics certificate is open to all UW–Madison students. This certificate explores the global economy, the roots of poverty, and policy solutions.
In this 15-credit certificate program you will:
- Build a strong foundation in economic analysis to understand challenges in poverty, inequality, and international development
- Learn how global forces like trade, migration, foreign investment and policies impact economic growth, the environment, and people’s lives
- Take courses on the topics of environment and development, hunger and food security, and regional courses on Latin America, Africa and Southeast Asia
- Study key issues such as:
- Food security
- Population growth
- Gender inequality
- Child labor
- Regional development
