CALS Giving Opportunities

Establish a Student Center in Agricultural Hall
The college is establishing a new student center in our historic Ag Hall. The original agricultural library, located below the large classroom in Ag Hall, has been changed and adapted over the years and now needs renovations to make it a functional, modern space for students. You can help give students a welcoming and supportive space they need by making a donation in support of the project.

CALS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Fund
The purpose of this Fund is to provide discretionary support for the Unit’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

VandenBosch Student Experience Fund
The purpose of this fund is to support out-of-classroom experiences for undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. The college seeks to provide broad access to a variety of experiential learning opportunities, from research apprenticeships to hands-on internships to field study programs around the globe.

CALS QuickStart
The summer CALS QuickStart program provides incoming freshman with a how-to guide for college before the fall semester begins. Through an online course and an on-campus “boot camp,” first-year students earn two credits, meet professors and advisors, plan for their major, and explore future careers. In 2018, the first year of QuickStart, over one hundred students completed the program. They reported feeling more connected to the university and the college and better prepared to take on their first semester. Your support will provide scholarships for students to take part in this unique program.

Organic agriculture
Additional opportunities for learning and training are needed to expand the reach of organic agriculture. At the University of Wisconsin–Madison, we want to expand our training of two critical populations: farmers, who produce the food we eat, and UW–Madison students, who can become the next generation of practitioners, teachers, trainers, policymakers and thought-leaders.

With additional philanthropic investment UW–Madison can leverage historical competencies and current talent and commitment to build an organic support network that fully integrates teaching, research and outreach.
