West Madison Agricultural Research Station is located on some of Wisconsin’s finest soils on Madison’s urban fringe. The station is about eight miles away from campus, making it perfect for campus-based researchers with field projects that require intensive supervision and frequent data collection. At the station, researchers grow and study a wide variety of agronomic crops, including corn, soybeans, small grains (oats, wheat and barley), alfalfa, and cover crops. The station focuses on agronomic and horticultural plant breeding and variety trials, community outreach, student training, and providing feed and manure management for the UW-Madison campus livestock.
