At the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS), our Outreach Team is dedicated to building awareness, fostering connections, and creating pathways for future leaders in agriculture, life sciences, and beyond. We engage with prospective students, families, educators, and community partners to share the diverse opportunities CALS offers—from groundbreaking research and global sustainability to food systems, health sciences, and environmental stewardship. Through personalized outreach, educational programming, campus visits, school presentations, and community events, we help students discover how CALS can shape their futures and the world around them. Our goal is to cultivate a new generation of scientists, leaders, and change-makers who will solve real-world challenges and embody the Wisconsin Idea.

Opportunities at CALS

Wisconsin Youth Institute
The Wisconsin Youth Institute (WYI) challenges high school students to solve local and global food security issues by connecting agriculture, science, health, economics, policy, social justice, and more. This transformative experience allows students to think critically, develop leadership skills and network with peers and CALS faculty.

Campus Connections
Explore what CALS has to offer through engaging campus tours, interactive hands-on activities, and community engagement designed to spark curiosity in agriculture and life sciences. These experiences connect learners with the world of discovery and possibility. CALS outreach brings science to life—wherever learning happens.
