CALS students benefit greatly from the generosity of alumni, organizations, and corporate sponsors who wish to provide financial support specifically to CALS students. With over 230 unique funds, CALS annually awards approximately $1.25 million dollars in scholarships to over 700 students.
Applying for CALS Scholarships
The CALS Scholarship Application opens at the beginning of November and remains open until the beginning of February each academic year. Whether you have been accepted to UW-Madison or not, you can apply via the application for scholarships at Scholarships@UW-Madison, as soon as you have a NetID. Our single application allows you to be considered for all CALS scholarships.
Increasing Your Chances
Many factors go into an individual scholarship decision. CALS Scholarship selections are based upon donor criteria established for each fund. You become a stronger applicant by:
- Maintaining a good GPA
- Having strong ACT or SAT scores
- Being a member of a student organization
- Holding a leadership role within that organization
- Writing a clear goal/career statement
- Completing the FAFSA to be considered for need based scholarships
Investigating Other Scholarship Opportunities
Throughout the year, dozens of donors ask us to promote scholarships they feel best suit CALS students. We refer to these as outside scholarship opportunities since the donors themselves handle the application, awarding, and allocation administration of funds independent of the college and university. See what’s available now by checking Scholarships from Outside CALS.
