In this session, participants will gain a clear understanding of the student accommodations process managed by the McBurney Disability Resource Center. Participants will discuss how faculty, staff, and instructors can collaborate effectively with students to implement accommodations and support an inclusive learning environment. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and discuss practical applications of the accommodations process.

Kyle Charters is the Associate Director of Student Services at the McBurney Disability Resource Center.

The Color of Drinking is an exploratory study that examines the direct and indirect impacts of alcohol culture on UW–Madison’s undergraduate students, especially students of color. The Color of Drinking survey was previously administered in 2015 and 2017 and was administered again in late fall 2023.

Reonda Washington is the Health Equity Data Analyst at University Health Services (UHS).

The UW–Madison Diversity Forum is held annually to discuss, share and learn about contemporary issues of equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging. The conference builds on more than 50 years of UW initiatives aimed at making the university a place where all students, staff, and faculty can thrive. The Diversity Forum features engaging speakers, presentations and panel discussions on topics ranging from best practices for fostering inclusive, equitable and accessible classrooms to expanding and deepening our understanding of American and world history. Diversity Forum draws in hundreds of participants from across the state of Wisconsin and beyond.

Spirit, Heart, Mind and Body: Holistic Ways of Knowing Can Lead to a Satisfying Environment for Working and Learning Well with One Another!

An interactive workshop that explores spiritual domains like honoring, valuing, and belonging in our classrooms and learning communities to create “lifelines” with, and between, one another. You will leave the session having built and strengthened lasting collegial relationships that will enrich your interactions with colleagues and students.

Anne Jones, PhD, is an enrolled member of the Menominee Nation, and a Professor, Organization Development and Tribal Nations Specialist with UW–Madison’s Division of Extension. She is affiliate faculty with the Departments of American Indian Studies and Community and Environmental Sociology. In her twenty-five-year career, she has served as Associate Dean, Special Assistant to the Dean for Strategic Directions and as a Community Development Educator. Annie’s areas of research include indigenous methodologies and cultural teachings to enhance leadership development, organizational planning, educational program development and evaluation. Annie co-leads UW–Madison’s Native Nations UW effort along with Omar Poler.
